KERALA: News of CPI(M) Observing Ramayana Month is Baseless

CPI(M)  Kerala state secretary, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, in a statement issued on July 11, has stated that the rumours about CPI(M) observing a “Ramayanam Masam” during Karkidakam, a month in Malayalam calendar, are baseless.

RSS has been exploiting the Ramayanam celebrations during the month of Karkidakam for advancing their communal agenda. Samskritha Sangham, an independent organisation led by a group of intellectuals, academicians and Sanskrit scholars, has been organising various events for the last two years to expose how the RSS and their allied organisations have misused the Hindu epics and puranas to advance their political and communal agenda.

Samskritha Sangham is not associated with CPI(M). Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said, “As per our knowledge, the programmes they are running are not linked to Ramayana reading in the month of Karkidakam. Their programmes are not confined to this season. In spite of this fact, some sections of the media and pro-RSS TV channels have engaged in a misinformation campaign against the CPI(M).”
