TN: Thoothukkudi Firing: Punish the Real Instigators Also, Urges CPI(M)

THE real instigators of Thoothukkudi firing should not be let out from the ambit of enquiry, urged K Balakrishnan, CPI(M) state secretary at a convention held in Chennai on November 2. The convention was organised by the South Chennai district committee of CPI(M) following the report on the firing by Justice Aruna Jagadeesan Commission that was recently submitted to the state government.

West Bengal: AIKS, AIAWU & CITU Begin Statewide Padayatra

THE time has come to turn around and resist. Padayatras (foot marches) are being organised in every district of West Bengal as part of statewide demonstrations called by state units of AIKS, AIAWU and CITU. The marches are being held across rural areas in each district from November 1. They will reach every booth highlighting the demands of the people of the village. The corruption of the ruling party and government will be the focus of the campaign.

Delhi: Skill Development Centre Set-up in North-East Delhi

AMIDST a festive atmosphere, A Vijayaraghavan, Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M) inaugurated the Skill Development Centre built by the Major Jaipal Singh Memorial Trust at Brijpuri in North-East Delhi on October 31, 2022. This is the area which lost 54 innocent lives and which saw widespread damage to property in one of the worst communal violence engineered by the RSS-BJP in February 2020.

THE founding all India conference of the Coffee Farmers Federation of India (CFFI), held on October 26-27, 2022 at Vellamunda, Wayanad authored a new chapter in the crop wise mobilisation of Indian peasantry. CFFI, affiliated to All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) is a federation of coffee farmers associations in major coffee producing states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

The open session, held on October 17 in the auditorium of Town Hall, was attended by a house full of participants. Tripura: Mammoth Rally in Agartala Challenges the Despotic BJP rule

THE massive rally held at Vivekananda Maidan (Astabol Ground) in Agartala town on October 21, at the call of the CPI(M), threw a challenge to the authoritarian BJP rule in the state.

The rally was presided over by Aghore Debbarma, Central Committee member of the Party and it was addressed by CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member Manik Sarkar and CPI(M) state secretary and Central Committee member Jitendra Chaudhury. 

Maha: CPI(M)’s Impressive Victories in Gram Panchayat Elections

THE CPI(M) captured 93 posts of the sarpanch (gram panchayat president) by direct election in the recently concluded round of gram panchayat (village panchayat) elections in the state. The Party has done quite well, especially in its traditional adivasi strongholds of Nashik and Thane-Palghar districts. This round of gram panchayat elections was not state wide, since only 1,165 gram panchayats in the state went to the polls. The voting was on October 16, 2022, and the counting was on October 17.
