On Ominous Developments in West Bengal

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on February 4, 2019IT was way back in 2014 that the Supreme Court had asked the CBI to investigate on the larger conspiracy involved in the loot of crores of rupees of people’s savings by chit fund companies like Saradha, Rose Valley etc. For full five years, contrary to its loud promises, the Modi government did not move seriously on this matter. During this period, many of the Trinamool Congress leaders who were prime accused in these scams like MPs Mukul Roy and Hemanta Sharma, moved over to the BJP.

BJP’S Authoritarian Assault

Suppressing Data: Modi Govt’s Deceit

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 31THE latest National Sample Survey Organisation’s data that has been withheld by the Modi government has shown that unemployment in India post-demonetisation has reached a four-decade high. The rate of joblessness among the rural males in the age group of 15-29 years jumped more than three times to 17.4 per cent in 2017-18 compared to 5 per cent in 2011-12. Unemployment rate of rural female youth stood at 13.6 per cent compared to 4.8 per cent in the same period.

Stop this Targeting of Dissenters

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on January 17.THE vicious targeting by the Modi government and BJP state governments of intellectuals and activists, who support the cause of dalit and oppressed communities, is intensifying. This is confirmed by the treatment being meted out to noted intellectual Anand Teltumbde in the Bhima Koregaon case. Teltumbde has been falsely charged in this case when he was not even present at the event.

Report from Jharkhand

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury visited Jharkhand on January 12,  2019 and met RJD Leader Lalu Prasad Yadav at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi. After meeting him, Sitaram addressed a press conference at the state Party office in Ranchi. Yechury told the media that the CPI(M) would try to consolidate anti-BJP votes to establish an alternative secular government both at the centre and in Jharkhand.He welcomed the BSP-SP tie up in Uttar Pradesh and said, it would consolidate the opposition votes against the BJP.
