CPI(M) Leader Visits Injured Kashmiri Student

ON August 8, Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M) visited Insha, in the hospital in Delhi where the 14 year old Kashmiri girl student has been admitted since July 24. She was blinded by pellets fired straight at her by the armed security forces, deliberately aiming at her forehead, when she was looking down from the window of her two storeyed house in Sadow, Shopian. Her case is symbolic of the barbarous atrocities committed on Kashmiri youth by armed security forces. She has had to undergo two surgeries for serious injuries to her forehead and eyes.

CPI(M) Delegation Meets Dalit Victims

“DALIT atrocity is Gujarat model, that is why Modi is silent”, said CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat after visiting Samadhiyala Village in Junagadh, Gujarat.  A CPI(M) delegation led by Brinda Karat with P K Biju MP, Arun Mehta, Central Committee member and many other state leaders met Sarviya Babu Bhai and Kavita Bai at their home, parents of the young men who were brutally beaten and humiliated by a vicious mob of gau rakshaks. They told the delegation that they were not at all satisfied with the investigation.

DELHI: DSMM Protests against Attacks on Dalits By Cow Vigilantes in Gujarat

Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch (DSMM) organised a protest on July 25 against the increasing atrocities on dalits in Gujarat and seeking a ban on the cow protection committee vigilantes. Hundreds of activists in spite of the rains stayed put and expressed their anger through the protest. Brahmjeet Singh, president DSMM–NCR, presided over the protest meeting.

CPI(M) Demands Action on Security Personnel for Gruesome Killing of Adivasis

GUMUDUMAHA, so far an unknown adivasi village of Kandhamal district in Odisha has attracted attention all over the country for killing five innocent adivasis. CRPF and state SOG personnel termed them as Maoists and killed them on July 8th night. This is the third such incident in the state of Odisha in a year, of killing innocent people in the name of Maoists.

DSMM Condemns Attack on Dalit family In Gujarat for Skinning Dead Cow

THE Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch, in a statement issued on July 14 has strongly condemned the gruesome attack on seven members of a dalit family by the cow protection vigilantes (gau rakshaks) in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district on July 11.

The victims were attacked with iron rods and sticks. They were tied to a car, while the group of gau rakshaks was beating them up. Two people sustained severe head injuries and were referred to Junagadh civil hospital for treatment.

SFI Organises Relief Fund for Marathwada Drought Victims

IT was a mixed feeling for Aniket Tambade, a fourth standard student, when he received new bag, copies and financial help during a programme at Beed, Marathwada on July 1, 2016. A feeling of natural joy and happiness was there on his face, a nascent feeling which a child experiences after seeing new books, but there was also a hidden pain of losing his father. Perhaps he was aware of the reason of his presence on that particular day.
