BJP Setback in Assembly Elections

THE results of the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are a big blow to the BJP. In all these three states, there were BJP governments and in two of them – Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh – the BJP had been in government for fifteen years, ie, for three successive terms. In all three, the BJP has been defeated.

The European Economic Community was a regional organisation which aimed to bring about economic integration among its member states. It was created by the Treaty of Rome of 1957. The EEC established a common market, which gave members the freedom to move goods, services, capital and people, and also a customs union among the founding states.

KERALA: ‘Women Wall’ on New Year Day

KERALA will form ‘Vanitha Mathil’ (Women Wall) on January 1, 2019. This will be formed by over 176 renaissance organisations of Kerala. The ‘women wall’ will be formed from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, which is a distance of over 600 km. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting which was chaired by the chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan. This decision was taken in the backdrop of violence unleashed by the Sangh Parivar outfits after the decision of the Supreme Court to allow women of all ages to enter the Sabarimala temple.

The Emerging International Regime

THIRD world economies are now facing a reduced export demand for their goods and services for two distinct reasons. One is the world capitalist crisis which entails a reduced aggregate demand in the world economy and hence reduced aggregate exports for all countries taken together; the other is the protectionism of the US, which, by garnering for that country a larger share than it would have otherwise had of this reduced world market, leaves correspondingly less for others.

Telangana Election Campaign Concludes

THE Telangana assembly elections are being held on December 7. The Bahujan Left Front (BLF) of which the CPI(M) is also a constituent is contesting all 119 seats in the state. The CPI(M) is contesting in 26 assembly constituencies.

CPI(M) leaders including Sitaram Yechury, Manik Sarkar, Brinda Karat, BV Raghavulu and K Hemalata participated in the election campaign and addressed a large number of public meetings.

CPI(M) Greets RSP National Conference

SITARAM Yechury greeted the 21st national conference of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) at New Delhi on December 1.

He said that the crisis of global capitalism continues to prove that the answers for human emancipation have to be found outside the framework of capitalism. It is only socialism that can lead the path to human emancipation.
