Maha: People Rise to Protest Fuel Price Hikes& Defend People’s Unity

MAHARASHTRA state committee of the CPI(M) called on the people of the state to protest against the almost daily hikes in fuel prices imposed by the BJP central government by observing a statewide ‘One Hour Boycott Satyagraha of Fuel Purchase', along with demonstrations on April 27, 2022.April 27 saw a large number of Party cadres and activists of various class and mass organisations thronging the petrol–diesel–LPG outlets all over the state for picketing between 11am to 12 noon.A planned campaign preceded the actual day of the satyagraha.

Resisting the Bulldozer Attacks

THE Citizens March on May 11, 2022, turned out to be a stern warning from thousands of Delhiites that they won’t allow the RSS-BJP to bulldoze their constitutional rights.Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau Member of the CPI(M) while speaking at the march said the RSS-BJP bulldozer which runs through the livelihood of the working people of Delhi stops in front of the encroachment of their cronies and elites. She said the united might of the working class would give a befitting reply to the RSS-BJP in the coming days.

Kerala: DYFI Holds State Conference

THE 15th state conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India’s Kerala unit was held from April 27-30, at Bhagat Singh Nagar in Pathanamthitta. The state conference concluded on April 30 with a huge public meeting.Inaugurating the public meeting, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member, Brinda Karat made an appeal to the people across the country to come forward against the bulldozer raj unleashed by the BJP. She said the bulldozer is not a mere machine right now; it has become a symbol of destruction.

Towards the 11th All India Conference of DYFI

THE 11th all India conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will be held in Salt Lake, West Bengal, from May 12-15, 2022, with the slogan ‘Youth Struggle for Secular India and Right to Employment’. The conference will be hosted at Diego Maradona Nagar, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Salt Lake. Approximately 650 youth from all parts of India will participate in the conference among which at least 20 per cent will be young women. The conference will be preceded by a massive youth rally on May 12, 2022.

Karnataka: Shramik Clinic for Unorganised Sector Workers

FIRST ever of its kind, a free clinic for unorganised sector workers in the state of Karnataka has been started by Bengaluru district committees of CITU. Dr C N Manjunath, director of Jaydeva Institute of Cardiology, Bengaluru inaugurated the Shramik Clinic for Unorganised Sector Workers at Jyothi Basu Bavan, CITU district committee office on April 16, 2022 in the presence of CITU national vice president  A K Padmanabhan.The clinic with free medical consultation will be available every day for the families of unorganised workers who are members of CITU affiliated Unions.

BSNLEU Conference Vows to Turn BSNL into a Vibrant PSU

THE tenth all India conference of BSNL employees union was held enthusiastically from April 2-4, 2022, at Guwahati. 396 delegates and 143 observers participated in this conference.BACKDROP OF  THE CONFERENCEIn October 2019, the Modi government announced with much pomp and show, a package of Rs 70,000 crore for the revival of BSNL and MTNL. However, till today, this revival package remains only on paper. After the announcement of this revival package, 1,02,000 employees of BSNL and MTNL have been retrenched under VRS.

Telangana: Working Class Solidarity against Social Discrimination

GENERALLY, the period of first two weeks of April is the period in which social issues and caste discrimination become an agenda of discussion in the country. But some people naively raise a question whether caste discrimination and gender discrimination still exist. They feel that there cannot be any discrimination when everybody is coming to school, college and doing any job, irrespective of caste or gender. There is no second opinion that all such discriminations and sexual attacks on women are social evils.
