THE Bombay University and College Teachers’ Union (BUCTU) once again and unequivocally reaffirmed its stamp of authority in the affairs of University of Mumbai with an overwhelming victory in the just concluded elections to the senate and academic council with a thumping majority.Elections with preferential voting system were held for ten senate seats (five general and five reserved) and eight academic council seats. The results of these elections were declared on July 7, 2023. BUCTU contested all ten senate seats and won eight out of ten.

CPI(M) Polit Bureau has issued the following statement on August 9THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the remarks made by Nishikant Dubey, a BJP MP, on the floor of the Lok Sabha against the CPI(M) and its former general secretary that they are a so-called "deshdrohi party".Dubey also refers, in flagrant violation of established parliamentary procedures, to "thousands of mails" that he wants to bring on record to prove his point.  Let him do so, so that the utter falsity of his claims are exposed.

THE Dalit Shoshan Mukti Manch (DSMM) and Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch (AARM) jointly organised a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on August 5 against the divisive BJP agenda in Manipur. The protesters demanded Chief Minister N Biren Singh's removal and effective restoration of law and order. Speakers included DSMM's general secretary and Polit Bureau member of CPI (M) Ram Chandra Dom, AARM's national secretary and CPI(M) Central Committee member, Jitendra Choudhary, Nathu Prasad Delhi state secretary of DSMM and Vumsuan Naulak of Manipur Tribal Forum.

The first was the one drafted in 2019 by Justice BN Srikrishna based on the Supreme Court's Puttuswamy judgement, which held privacy as a fundamental right. Justice Srikrishna's draft protected this fundamental right: the individual's right to privacy in the digital age.
