Hundreds of million Indian workers are ready to strike on May 20 to demand higher minimum wages and a rollback of BJP’s anti-worker policies.NINETY per cent of Indian workers are in the unorganised sector. This does not mean that they are outside trade union structures, but only that most workers must fight very hard to form unions.

Maha: State-Level Conference of Women Agricultural Workers

A ONE-day ‘State-Level Women Agricultural Workers Conference,’ organised by the state committee of the Maharashtra State Agricultural Workers’ Union (Lal Bawta), was successfully held on April 27, 2025, in Partur, Jalna district.As per the decision of the union’s state committee, district-level conferences of women agricultural workers were previously conducted in eight districts, with plans to expand them to additional districts in the future. In these district conferences, written reports were presented and group discussions with women agricultural workers were held.

Kerala: New State Headquarters of CPI(M) in Thiruvananthapuram

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala inaugurated its new state headquarters, the AKG Centre, in Thiruvananthapuram. The new AKG Centre was inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member, Pinarayi Vijayan.Veteran leader S Ramachandran Pillai hoisted the Party flag, in the presence of CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby, Polit Bureau member A Vijayaraghavan, and CPI(M) Kerala State Secretary M V Govindan Master. Party workers and leaders gathered to celebrate the occasion and mark this important development in the CPI(M)'s organisational journey in Kerala.

Tripura: Lenin’s Birth Anniversary Observed

COMRADE Lenin’s 155th birth anniversary was observed in the whole state of Tripura on April 22, 2025. On this occasion, a hall meeting was organised by the CPI(M) state committee in Town Hall, Agartala. People in large numbers attended the meeting that was addressed by Manik Sarkar, senior leader of CPI(M), Jitendra Chaudhury, Polit Bureau member and Ratan Das, secretary of West Tripura district committee. The meeting was presided over by senior leader Aghore Debbarma.

THE response to the call for an uninterrupted siege of the Fort St. George, Chennai, the seat of power of the Tamil Nadu government was unprecedented. Thousands of disabled persons had, braving many obstacles, began their journey from various parts of the state towards the state capital to participate in the siege that was to commence in the morning hours of April 22.
